世界中で愛されて百年ビリケンさんは、通天閣観光が所有する資料によると、誕生は1908年。作者は米国の女性芸術家、フローレンス・プリッツ、当時の大統領のウィリアム・ハワード・タフトのウィリアムの愛称「ビリー」に、小さいを表す接尾語[-ken]を加えたのが名前の由来とされる。
