☆ 沈丁花 Daphne Odora

 

沈丁花は春の花。我が家の庭にある沈丁花の花が、今年もまた、一斉に開花し始め、芳しい香りを放っている。咲き始めの香りは、気高い匂いがして、人の心に残る。

紅色や紫色と純白のコントラストが可愛い小さな花。もともと中国南部に原生していた低木の樹木と考えられている。漢名を「瑞香」と言い中国でもこの香りが愛されている。

この花の英語名は、「Daphne Odora」という。「Daphne」は、ギリシャ神話の女神「ダフネ」に因む。

花言葉は、「栄光」「不死」「不滅」「歓楽」「永遠」とある。

Daphne Odora is flowers of spring.  Every day I can meet the flowers of Daphne Odora in my residence garden. It began to bloom all at once in these days and it makes me happy with the sweet fragrance of noble, which remain in the heart of us.

Contrast of pure white flowers and small red or purple is very cute.

It is believed that they originally had been trees and shrubs native to southern China.

This fragrance has been loved in China called “Reishan” by the name of Chinese language.

English name of this flower is called for “Daphne Odora”, which is named after the “Daphne” goddess of Greek mythology.
