☆ 無患子（ムクロジ）の巨木 Giant Tree of Soapberry
無患子（ムクロジ）の巨木
春日大社の参道を歩いていると偶然、奇妙な巨木の真ん中に何本かの孟宗竹がにょきにょき生えているのを発見しました。おそらく、樹齢100年以上になると思われます。
樹高 15.5ⅿ 幹周 4.58ⅿ
果皮には大量のサポニンが含まれるため、かつて石鹸としても利用されていたそうです。
種子は、正月の羽根突きの球や数珠に使われていたそうです。
Giant tree of soapberry
When I was walking on the road approaching
Kasuga Shrine, I ran into this starange
and giant tree, which is perhaps more than
100 years old. Also, to my surprise, I have discovered several bamboo trees in
the center of this giant tree.
They say it is often seen in Mt.
Kasugayama. Since its seedcase has a
lot of Saponin composition, it is used to use as soap.
Its seed was used as a ball for battledore,
shufflecock and Buddhist rosary.
